A Change in Season Brings A Decision

Submitted by Steve B - Posted on 2010, February 26 - 4:37pm

Today marks the end of spring and the beginning of summer and just like the changing of seasons I myself have reached a point where I too must make a choice. It won't be an easy choice and I find myself at a park near our home siting on a bench lost in thought.

A Flat Iron

Submitted by Steve B - Posted on 2010, February 22 - 5:03pm

I had been watching a commercial on TV that gave me an Idea. At first it was just a thought, then after a week or so I decided I had to do it. I went to the store and bought a flat iron.

For Love and Money

I shot up in bed shaking from the cold sweat that was running down my head, I looked around but nothing looked familiar, except the room itself. I threw off the sheets and sat up in my bed letting my legs hand over the edge. As my feet hit the floor it didn’t feel right something was off but what? I got up and staggered to the bathroom, had I gotten drunk last night? I tried to remember what I had done yesterday but could not remember in fact I could not remember anything! I reached the bathroom and fumbled for the light switch finally finding it I turned on the light and walked in. I felt weak nauseous like I was going to throw up, I reached the toilet and lifted the lid and seat but nothing came out. I lowered the seat and yanked my underwear down and sat down. I peed and then wiped myself; something again didn’t feel right but what?

I lie down on the double bed that I have been sitting on throughout our long chat. I feel convinced that I am about to do the right thing. People are depending on me. I want to see if I can pull this off.

"Okay Mom. Call in the Wizards. I'll do it." I manage to get out before fading into a comfortable sleep.

As we say good night, I notice that she is wearing a new necklace. I don't know why I hadn't noticed it earlier. I guess that I am not all that observant at times. Anyway the necklace looks disturbingly familiar. Hanging from a delicate gold chain around her neck is a gold colored charm in the shape of a running shoe.

As I look at it, she says “It reminds me of you.”

She winks at me before heading inside.

As I fade away, the last thing I hear is Mom exclaiming, “We forgot to get some sleepwear!”

“And a swimsuit,” Laurie adds.

I hope that whatever they get won’t be too racy!

“And makeup,” Marla interjects from a distance.

Arnold’s Bar and Girll (unfinished , but edited!)

Bobby Hester needed a beer. It’d been a great day at work, and another deal was done and under his belt. Yes, this was a good day for Bobby. He felt so good he had decided to walk to his apartment from the office, but he was beginning to think he’d made a wrong turn as the streets didn’t look the same as from the back of his usual cab.

He spied a sign with the traditional bunch of grapes on it.

‘Ah, an Irish Bar, that’ll work for a brewski.’ He thought with a smile on his face. Looking up at the sign he saw its faded letters proclaimed “Arnold’s Bar and Girll”
